In the mid 90s rap music was taking the country by storm. Hans Nelson aka HanSoul was part of that storm. Signed to a major record label with a chart topping hit on the airwaves it would appear that HanSoul had it made. A culmination of the misfortunes of life and the sins of his father, lead to Hans having unanswered questions in his heart, which he desperately needed answers to. Hans found himself torn between two worlds. One world being of “Light” and the other of Darkness. Our story begins with the humble beginnings of Hans' father Dr Nelson, a hard nosed-no nonsense man who came into prominence during one of the must turbulent times in the south working his way as a shoe shine boy in the slums of Philadelphia to graduating from Howard University Medical School to beginning a successful private medical practice down south in Anniston Alabama. Dr Nelson, a proud physician & business owner migrates to Anniston, and after building his practice and pig farm, he is forced out of his business by the KKK.  He then leaves Anniston and reestablishes himself and raises his family back in his hometown of Philadelphia Pa. The movie then chronicles the 1980’s and the life of his youngest boy, Hans who is a budding teen. Hans attends a hip hop show at a local skating rink and becomes enamored with hip hop music. 

Hans comes to learn some hard lessons as he grows into a young man.  He first loses his innocence, then his love. While in college he begins to lose his way, and has different encounters which shed light into the dark side corners of what plagued the budding Emcee. It seems at every turn there is an unanswered question that only the love of Christ will be able to answer. This becomes a constant in Hans life as he continues on his journey to success. Jesus Saves! inspires us to take a long hard look at the correlation between hip hop music and the dark forces that fuel the entertainment industry and ultimately negatively impact the lives of young people & society as a whole. HanSoul offers us a passionate, transparent and intimate look into the life of a tormented soul that had lost his way in the music but found himself through the message of Jesus Christ. 

The story unfolds with young Hans and his brother Charlie being separated from their beautiful Swedish mother Gunilla, a victim of a heinous act that leads to years of mental health issues for her. Hans’ life spirals out of control through teen relationships, the association of friends in college, and his introduction to the music industry. Wild parties and promiscuity soon become commonplace in his life. Hans is visited by the Spirit of Christ through miraculous happenstances in his life. Like Jonah Hans was running from the Spirit of Christ then hits a wall and falls from grace and lands at the feet of The Father.
